In September 2020, twelve participants started the second edition of the master’s course for demolition and concrete cutting technology at the Hamm training center. To achieve the master title, participants will complete around 1,200 full-time lessons by April 2021. The first module “AEVO instructor qualification” was the start, followed by the “Basic qualification” module by December 2020, and the third module “Action-specific qualification” will be completed at the end of April 2021. All modules are completed with an exam. If the corona situation permits, the last exams will take place from April 19 to 21, 2021.
Content optimized
“Compared to the first course, we have sharpened the speakers’ topics again in order to avoid content overlaps”, explains Tobias Erpenbeck, Head of Training at ABZ Hamm. “In addition, the teaching content in the Basic Qualifications module, which is similar for all master craftsman courses, has been geared more towards the specifics of the BBS industry.” Corona Protection Ordinance of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia can be changed back to the classroom. “Our thanks go to the associations and speakers who support us in implementing the master craftsman’s course,” said Tobias Erpenbeck. “We were particularly pleased that the speakers – so to speak, ‘overnight’ – made the Corona-related online lessons possible. And of course I would also like to thank all of the participants who have taken this path”.
Career ladder in an industry
Since 2019, specialists in the industry have had the opportunity to receive state-recognized master training for demolition and concrete cutting technology, supported by the Concrete Drilling and Sawing Association, the German Demolition Association and implemented by the Dortmund Chamber of Commerce. Further partners are the Bauindustrieverband NRW e. V. with the ABZ Hamm as well as the industrial union Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt (IG BAU). “With the newly established master craftsman course, the ‘career ladder’ in our industry is complete,” explains Britta Keinemann, head of the training and further education committee in the trade association. “The qualifications in the area of concrete drilling and sawing range from training to become a building mechanic for demolition and concrete cutting technology, to training to become a foreman, foreman and site manager, right through to a master craftsman. We are thus offering our young talents and the employees of our specialist companies long-term prospects for their professional lives. “
