Farewell and Maria Lang, Chairwoman of the VBS: An era in the Austrian Association

With great gratitude and recognition, the VBS, the Austrian Association of Concrete Drilling and Sawing, said goodbye to Maria, the long-standing Chairwoman. Her remarkable leadership and dedication have significantly shaped and advanced the association. The recent event honoring Maria Lang brought together 55 participants at Hotel Mondi by Lake Grundlsee. From there, attendees explored the Aussee Salt Mines, a historic film set, and the evening continued with dinner, fostering lively exchanges and camaraderie.

The next day began with welcoming remarks from Michael Findeis (IACDS Past President), Anne Fuchs (FBS), and Robert Brändli (SVBS). Michael Findeis recognized Maria Lang’s tenure as chairwoman with a gift, while Robert Brändli celebrated the association’s 30th anniversary.

Following reports from Maria Lang and treasurer Georg Lahhofer, both stepped down from their positions. A discussion on new board elections ensued, leaving the chairperson role temporarily unfilled. Deputies Manfred Gratzl and Wolfgang Niedermühlbichler will manage operations until a successor is found. The next Betonbohrertag is scheduled for April 2026 in Upper Austria.

“Since taking over the chairmanship in 2018, Maria has led the association with tireless commitment and foresight. May their path continue to be accompanied by success, health, and happiness. Thank you very much, Maria, for your invaluable contributions and the precious memories you leave behind” says Michael Findeis.
