Considerations for wire sawing

Static anchor loads in wire sawing are low. Static wire pulling force is 1 – 2 kN.

(Standard wires with a diameter of about 11mm)

Maximum force is reached when wire blocks suddenly 🡒 dynamic load:

  1. Relieved by wire rupture
  2. Relieved by anchor breakage

Wire breaks at tensile loads ~ 10 kN depending on how long it is in use (fatigue of wire or connector).

Dynamic loads on sudden wire blockage exceed anchor forces of 20 kN, if the wire does not break.

Be aware of the wire pulling direction, especially if they are producing tensile forces on the anchor. Pulley stands are often more critical than the wire saw itself.
