Considerations for diamond coring

Diamond coring loads require big anchors. Maximum normal force (FN) on a core bit:

  • High torque (MD) gear setting (low rpm)
  • Small bit (r small)
  • Blunting bit (µ = 2)

Anchor load (FA) is defined by FN and baseplate geometry. FN is the operator´s pressing force.

Coring applications are the most critical concerning anchor failure. High torque and small core bit diameter favor anchor pull-out.
