What 2021 has been like for IACDS

  • Here is a short review of the year 2021 in the International Association of Concrete Drillers & Sawers.

The year 2021 is coming to an end. The International Association of Concrete Drillers & Sawers, IACDS, has continued working towards a better and more united guild. Now, is time to recap how the year has been for the association and the future goals that has set for the next year.

In these months, many publications have seen the light. One of the most important is the International Drilling and Sawing Industry Report 2021, a reference document published in October that allows to know the situation of the sector globally and based on questionnaires for contractors and suppliers. But the publications did not stop there; IACDS also published its Yearbook 2021 and many conference books of the webinars held.

For the next year, IACDS will publish a Guide about Slurry Management for concrete drilling and sawing, which aims to be a technical reference document on the topic.

Also, the working groups have continued working to provide a structured way of developing the organisation’s objectives. However, one of the main objectives of the associations has been the education and training of the guild’s professionals. IACDS got down to work holding up to six webinars. These educative sessions taught and informed many participants and allowed the sharing of knowledge on the guild. It became a successful innovation.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 could not count on its Diamond Awards, a recognized competition for the concrete sawing and drilling industry, as it happened on the previous year. However, IACDS decided to set a date for the Diamond Award ceremony of 2022: the world’s leading trade fair in the sector Bauma. Both members and non-members can participate. Don’t forget to register!

The members of this association celebrated by video conference its General Assembly, as well as many working group meetings. The no-presential context of the pandemic didn’t stop IACDS to work towards the development of the guild. For the next year, the association will continue meeting, online or not, and organizing activities, webinar and many more. Happy new year!
