Last 17th of April, the International Association of Concrete Drillers and Sawers, IACDS, celebrated the ceremony of the Diamond Award 2016, where the job “Cutting of bored piles Ø 1300 mm, 15 m under the water level” of the German company DIATEC was shortlisted.

In the job there were 139 drilling piles Ø = 1300mm located in an open excavation pit (160 m length, 20 m width, 15 m depth in the groundwater).

Under instruction of the client – Deutsche Bahn AG – these piles must pass the piles integrity test.

In order to perform this test, all piles must be cut. The level to cut varies according to the concrete overlay.

The task was to saw off the pile until the sound sustainable concrete level is reached.

After finishing the cut/sawing procedure the pile heads are lifted from the excavation pit with the help of a crane and layed down guaranteeing a clear allocation of the corresponding pile head.
